Pompont
A utopian project that reimagines the connection between Geneva’s two Rhône riverbanks, redefining urban and maritime connections to create a greener, bolder, and more dynamic city.
Concept
Creating a new CGN-Ferry terminal on an existing - yet to be renovated and extended - "Jetée des Eaux-Vives", underlines the potential of using what is already there to minimize the environmental impact, reduce the projects costs and eventually solve a/the real problem. By establishing a central hub in the lake, the terminal would be connecting Geneva to the other ports of the lake and would improve the smaller local taxi-bus "mouette" services.
This would allow for a pedestrian bridge to connect both shores where they seem to naturally want to converge, between the "Bains des Pâquis" and the "Jetée des Eaux-Vives" ; a bridge here would create a smooth route for pedestrians, cyclists, swimmers, and commuters, and contribute in making the city globally more fluid, sustainable, and forward-thinking city.
Sailboats could be docked in the large harbor, leaving the smaller harbor for mouettes, pedal boats, and motorboats.
Designed for CORAL STUDIO's 2025, April Fools Day, the project is an invitation to question the status quo and reinvent our city's future.
